Harvest Pointe Animal Hospital will be providing a can’t-miss educational session at the Main Stage of the Edmonton International Cat Festival Finale on Sunday, May 31 from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Don’t miss the presentation: How To Make Your Cat’s Later Years Their Best Years with Dr. Hayley Mandrusiak, DVM.
This topic will cover when is a cat considered a senior cat, common signs to watch for in senior cats, common conditions of senior cats, and what options there are for preventative care.

ABOUT DR. HAYLEY MANDRUSIAK, DVM

Dr. Hayley has loved animals her whole life—so becoming a veterinarian felt like a natural fit. She’s especially passionate about building strong relationships with her clients and their pets, and believes that the best care comes from collaboration and communication. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. Prior to that, she attended the University of Alberta, where she met her husband, Dr. Daren. Dr. Hayley sees both dogs and cats, with interests in nutrition, allergy management, and palliative care. She is a member of the Feline Veterinary Medical Association and volunteers with the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association. Her approach is practical and personalized, focused on helping pets feel their best at every life stage.

Come hear all about Celebrity Cats and adventurers Puff & Cocoa at our Celebrity Cat Q&A on the Main Stage.
Puff is a fierce rock climbing feline phenomenon! She loves to travel with her siblings, Yolk and Jane; a labrador and pomsky and the most recent addition to the family: Cocoa (Cocoa Puff!) Puff’s pawrents Elexis and Jon travel as a family to visit beautiful landscapes and climb rocks. Puff was born ~3.5 years ago in Alaska with her first adventures focused on skiing to glaciers. She has since gained popularity through her rock climbing adventures shared via Instagram @PuffClimbs, where she has more than half a million followers.
Along with this 30 minute Main Stage Q&A from 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., Puff & Cocoa will also do a one-hour Celebrity Cat Meet & Greet from 1 p.m. to 2 pm. Meet & Greets are included with your festival ticket but are first come first serve.
Cats are only available to meet & greet for the specified time slot.

The Animal Care & Control Centre is where Edmonton’s stray and lost pets are housed. The facility offers safe-harbour for sick, injured, and lost pets as well as victims of animal neglect, cruelty and abandonment. They house and care for these pets until such time as their rightful owners can be found or they are transferred to a rescue for adoption. In this interactive presentation, Lauren Stielow of Animal Wisdom will introduce intuitive animal communication and bring it to life through live readings with 2–3 participants. You’ll discover how cats share their emotions, preferences and personalities, and learn simple ways to deepen your connection with your feline friend.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Lauren Stielow is an animal communicator and Animal Reiki practitioner who helps bridge the gap between animals and the people who love them. Through a heart-centered connection and intuitive listening, she supports deeper understanding of animals’ emotions, needs and unique personalities. She’s deeply passionate about animal welfare and wild animal conservation.
ABOUT THE BUSINESS
Animal Wisdom offers intuitive animal communication and Animal Reiki sessions that deepen connection and understanding between animals and their guardians. Through live calls and written reports, Lauren helps people better understand their animals’ emotions, needs and personalities, bringing clarity and comfort through all stages of life. ABOUT CATHERINE OWEN
Catherine Owen’s name starts with the word cat! She’s published seventeen collections of poetry and prose including her children’s picture book with Jenny Keith called Day Cat Night Cat. She has four cats that live with her in her 1905 home in Edmonton: Nox, Solstice, El Stevenson and Jeannie Sweatpea.
At the Edmonton Cat Festival on Sunday, May 31, 2026, Catherine Owen will lead a one-hour drop-in workshop on writing songs for cats (Lullabies, Raps and Rock Songs for Cats) from 1-2 p.m. in the Workshop Breakout Room (see floor plan for location), then present Cat Poetry on the Main Stage from 2:30-3 p.m.

ABOUT THE CAT FESTIVAL:
The Edmonton International Cat Festival is the biggest event of its kind in Canada, and was the first cat festival in the country when it began in 2014. The Edmonton Cat Festival brings together cat lovers to celebrate cats and cat culture, while raising money and awareness for cat rescues! 100% of proceeds from the festival is donated to rescues and there are A TON of CATivities, cat-themed vendors, and all-things CATS happening on site.
Since 2014, the festival has raised $187,000 for local rescues!
