City of Edmonton declares Caturday, May 31, 2025 – “CAT DAY!”

THE OFFICIAL MAY 31, 2025 PROCLAMATION READS: 

WHEREAS, the Edmonton International Cat Festival educates ailurophiles about the many hissterical quirks of our local furry friends, from the instinct to sit in tiny boxes to the mysteries of zoomies and nose boops;

AND WHEREAS, although all pets in Canada are purrfect, from their teefs to their tails and toe beans, this annual spotlight on felines raises important funds for cat rescues and builds community among kitty devotees;

AND WHEREAS, the City of Edmonton works with dedicated partners to offer programs like Don’t Skip the Chip, the Animal Care and Control Centre, and Barn Buddy to support the health and happiness of felines throughout their nine lives;

AND WHEREAS, in honour of the important role cats play in creating healthy commeownities and contributing to pawsitive mental health for their humans, let’s let the cat out of the bag and get the pawty started!

THEREFORE I, MAYOR AMARJEET SOHI, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM MAY 31, 2025 “CAT DAY” IN EDMONTON, ALBERTA’S CAPITAL CITY.
