City of Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson proclaims June 1, 2019 ‘Cat Day’

We are thrilled to ameownce that City of Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson has proclaimed June 1, 2019, ‘CAT DAY’ in Edmonton, in honour of the Edmonton Cat Festival!

The proclamation reads as as follows: 

WHEREAS, 38 purrcent of Canada’s households are home to at least one feline family member, and there are more than 33,000 licensed cats registered in Edmonton; 

AND WHEREAS, every summer, feline fanciers flock to the Edmonton International Cat Festival, eager to celebrate cat culture and raise funds to help cats in need; 

AND WHEREAS; since 2014, the festival has had a pawsitive impact on our community, raising more than $81,000 for local rescue organizations; 

AND WHEREAS, with ameowzing presentations, inter-cat-ctive activities and hissterical entertainment options, the Edmonton International Cat Fest is litter-ally the purrfect way to spend a Caturday;

THEREFORE I, MAYOR DON IVESON, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM JUNE 1, 2019 “CAT DAY” IN EDMONTON, ALBERTA’S CAPITAL CITY.

Thank you to the City of Edmonton and Mayor Don Iveson for gifting us with this pawsitively pun-filled proclamation and proclaiming Caturday, June 1, 2019 as Cat Day in Edmonton! 

We do have hope you’ll join us at Alberta’s biggest celebration of cats!! The festival runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on June 1, 2019. 

It includes adoptable cats, show cats, cat board games, cat yoga, cat face painting, cat puzzles, cat crafts, ROBO cats, cat LEGO, kitty mazes, 50+ cat vendors, cat presentations, and MORE!

Tickets can be pre-purrchased online until end of day May 31, then purchased on-site at the festival. 

This family, friendly event will donate 100% of purrrrrceeds to Zoe’s Animal Rescue, Little Cats Lost, SAFE Team Rescue, A Pet’s Pantry, and the Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society!
