The first-ever virtual edition of the Edmonton International Cat Festival kicks off today (May 30, 2020 at 10 a.m.) and we are thrilled to announce that:
City of Edmonton Mayor Don Iveson has proclaimed Caturday, May 30, 2020, CAT DAY in Alberta’s capital city, as 200+ cat lovers from Edmonton and around the world—across Canada, down to the U.S., and across the pond to Europe, get ready to purr-ticipate in Edmonton Cat Festival
The very punny proclamation reads:
WHEREAS, every year, the Edmonton International Cat Festival brings together a community of feline fanciers, working to raise funds and awareness to support cats in need;
AND WHEREAS, throughout its six-year hisstory, the festival has raised more than $110,000 in suppurrt of local rescue organizations;
AND WHEREAS, although this year’s festival could not be held in purrson, its new online format promises to take advantage of the pawerful force created when cats and the internet come together;
AND WHEREAS, cat lovers from across our city and around the world are encouraged to mewn in and enjoy purrrkshops on topics like cat yoga, at-home cat care and cat photography;
THEREFORE I, MAYOR DON IVESON, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM CATURDAY, MAY 30, 2020 “CAT DAY” IN EDMONTON, ALBERTA’S CAPITAL CITY.
