CALLING ALL EDMONTON AREA SCHOOLS AND STUDENTS –  Purrticipate in the 2025 Edmonton Cat Festival Student Cat Art Contest!

Selected works will be displayed at the festival and artists have a chance to win prizes!
All students who submit artworks will receive 1 free ticket to the festival. 
As Kids 12 and Under are FREE already, students under the age of 12 can use their free ticket to bring a parent.
Teachers who coordinate student submissions will also receive 1 free ticket to the festival.

What is the Edmonton Cat Fest Student Art Contest?

  • This is an annual cat art contest the festival invites students to participate in. It’s an opportunity to showcase creative talent, love of cats, win prizes and be part of Alberta’s biggest cat event.

Who is eligible for the 2025 Cat Art Contest?

  • Students in the Greater Edmonton area from Grades 1-12.

WHAT DO STUDENTS NEED To SUBMIT TO PURRTICIPATE?

  • Cat-themed artwork! (VISUAL) Submissions must be hand-drawn or painted, on a minimum letter-sized (8.5×11 inch) paper or canvas. Larger sizes are also welcome.

Why should students purrticipate in the art contest? What do they get out of this expurrience?

    • Selected entries will be displayed at the Edmonton International Cat Festival on Caturday, May 31, 2025 for thousands of cat lovers to see! We typically get 2,000+ cat lovin’ attendees so your artwork has the potential to be seen by thousands of people. 
    • Participating in the contest allows students to use creativity to show their love for cats and art!
    • There will be prizes for winning art submissions (most voted art by festival goers). These are typically cat-themed prizes including toys, treats, food for cats and cat-themed accessories and gifts for cat lovers. 
  • All students who submit artworks will receive 1 free ticket to the festival. As Kids 12 and Under are FREE already, students under the age of 12 can use their free ticket to bring a parent. 
  • Teachers who coordinate student submissions will also receive 1 free ticket to the festival.

When do students need to submit cat art by?

  • We ask that teachers or parents submit onto our Google Form by: April 30, 2025
  • Students / or teachers are asked to please take a photo of the artwork being submitted, and submit a Google Form entry for each student participating.  Please hold onto the physical submission in case it is selected to be shown at the festival. 
  • Please note you need to sign in to a Google account to upload the photo. If this is an issue, you can email [email protected] with photos for your submissions if you are having trouble with the form.
  • Artwork that is selected to be displayed at the festival will be coordinated for pick-up in May.

What needs to be included in the digital submission?

    • Name
    • Age/Grade
    • School
    • Teacher’s Name
    • Title of your artwork 
    • Comments: How did you make it, is there a story to this art piece, how does it connect to the contest theme? 
    • Would you be willing to donate your art piece for sale at the festival to fundraise for cat rescues or do you want the art piece returned to you? (Yes or No)
  • All details must be answered to qualify for the contest

What else should you know about the 2025 Student Cat Art Contest?

  • 2025 is the 11th year of the Edmonton International Cat Festival and the 2nd year of the Edmonton Cat Fest Student Art Contest.
  • In 2024 we received more than 300 art submissions from students at 18 schools in the Greater Edmonton area.
  • You must submit digitally via the Google Form by April 30, 2025 to qualify for this year’s Student Cat Art Contest.

Please note – in order to purrticipate, students need to include their school + teacher information / sign up via their teacher. Parents can submit for students but need to confirm with teacher. 

Selected artworks to be displayed at the festival will be physically collected and coordinated through teachers. If you are a teacher, please use the Google Form to submit your students art work, or contact [email protected] if you have any questions.

  • If your piece is selected to be displayed at the festival, our organizing team will reach out to your teacher directly to collect the physical art piece.

The 2025 in-person event will be held at MacEwan University Robbins Health Learning Centre in Downtown Edmonton, AB from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Caturday, May 31, 2025.
