For 2026, the Edmonton International Cat Festival presents the inaugural Edmonton Cat Tour kicking off Edmonton Cat Festival Month on Caturday, May 2, 2026.

Inspired by Toronto Cat Tour, and similar cat tours around the world, this is an event where cat lovers come together and follow a planned walking route to see neighbourhood cats through windows or on porches.
(Tourgoers do NOT enter homes!)

We are launching a sign-up form for anyone who wants to be featured in the first-ever Edmonton Cat Tour.

Separate information will be shared if you just want to sign up to ATTEND the tour (walk with us).

What is an Edmonton Cat Tour?

The Edmonton Cat Tour is when cat lovers gather and go for a walk together on a pre-planned route in a specific neighbourhood, making stops along the way to view, wave, and say hello to cats who live in the neighbourhood.

Cats can stay inside and be seen from the window—it doesn’t need to be petted. And people do NOT enter homes! Participants stand on the sidewalk or lawn to interact / wave / view / snap photos of the cats. Though we’d love if participating cats/homes are open to having people on the tour come up to pet your cat, and/or if your cat is comfortable being brought out to your front porch or lawn to say hello to the crowd (safely leashed).

The Edmonton Cat Tour is another ameowzing way the Edmonton International Cat Festival hopes to bring the cat community together to help launch our Edmonton Cat Festival Month of CATivities culminating in our big Edmonton International Cat Festival on Sunday, May 31.

Why are we asking for sign-ups?

The Edmonton Cat Tour can only run if there are enough interested cat/cat pawrents in a walkable route within a neighbourhood in the city. We are putting out a call for interested cat owners to see where a walking distance Edmonton Cat Tour route may make the most sense.

Based on cats who sign up and where they live in the city, we will develop a walking route for Caturday, May 2.

If your cat is not selected for the inaugural Edmonton Cat Tour this May 2026, we will reach out in the future for potential purrticipation in new routes and tours!

Can people purrticipate without signing up their cat/home? YES!

This phase of the sign-up is to help us determine an Edmonton Cat Tour route.

If you just want to attend the May walk, we will share more information on how the general public can purrticipate in April.

NOTE: The Edmonton Cat Tour on May 2, 2026 kicks off Edmonton Cat Festival Month, which includes a number of cat-themed CATivities across edmonton throughout May, culminating in the big Edmonton International Cat Festival on Sunday, May 31, 2026.

We will be ameowncing the full Edmonton Cat Festival month of CATivities in March.

ABOUT THE CAT FESTIVAL:

The Edmonton International Cat Festival is the biggest event of its kind in Canada, and was the first cat festival in the country when it began in 2014. The Edmonton Cat Festival brings together cat lovers to celebrate cats and cat culture, while raising money and awareness for cat rescues! 100% of proceeds from the festival is donated to rescues and there are A TON of CATivities, cat-themed vendors, and all-things CATS that takes place. In 2026, the Edmonton International Cat Festival expands to a MONTH-long Edmonton Cat Festival, with CATivities taking place throughout the month, culminating in our finale festival on Sunday, May 31.

Since 2014, the festival has raised $187,000 for local rescues!

Previously supported rescues include the Edmonton Humane Society, Little Cats Lost, SAFE Team Rescue, Zoe’s Animal Rescue, Community Cats Edmonton, Furget Me Not Animal Rescue, A Pet’s Pantry, Enoch Animal Services & more!

The 2026 Edmonton International Cat Festival finale takes place on Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 10 a.m to 5 p.m. in Downtown Edmonton at MacEwan Robbins Health Centre.
