Well it’s official! 

MAYOR DON IVESON PROCLAIMS CATURDAY, MAY 29, 2021 AS “CAT DAY” IN THE CITY OF EDMONTON … citing cats’ pawsitive impact over the past 14 months on the mental health and wellbeing of their humans:

THE OFFICIAL PROCLAMATION READS: 

WHEREAS, 38 purrcent of Canadian households are home to at least one feline family member, and there are more than 33,000 licensed cats registered in Edmonton;
AND WHEREAS, cats are great companions to many, and have had a pawsitive impact over the past 14 months on the mental health and wellbeing of their humans;
AND WHEREAS, since 2014, this festival has raised more than $117,000 for local rescue organizations;
AND WHEREAS; with an ameowzing line-up of presentations, engaging activities and hissterical entertainment options, the Edmonton International Cat Festival is litterally the purrfect way to spend a Caturday;
THEREFORE I, MAYOR DON IVESON, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM MAY 29, 2021 “CAT DAY” IN EDMONTON, ALBERTA’S CAPITAL CITY.
